Believe it or not, the youngest of the baby-boom generation are now in their 50's. And, much different than the thick arches on trend today, many who fall into that age range grew up madly over-plucking their brows, which resulted in thin rainbow arches and partially drawn-on brows.
Malynda Vigliotti, owner of Boom Boom Brow Bar in New York City's Greenwich Village, has a few brow-lifting tips for your clientele who may have been a little too heavy handed with the tweezers back in the day.
“I think everyone took too much off back then," Vigliotti says. "Those over-plucked frames are dated and make people look older and tired. Advise that your guests grow back their brows to a longer fuller shape and get a tint," she suggests. "It gives the appearance of a mini lift around eyes."
3 Tips for Creating an Arch That Lifts
1. Grow: Brows can get thinner with age, so advise guests to use a growth serum, eat right and cultivate those arches so there is enough to work with to create a new more youthful shape.
2. Shape: Professional shaping is the way to go. Longer, straighter, fuller brows with less of an arch are on trend as they create a lift and make people look younger. This includes having those longer grey strands trimmed.
3. Tint: A tint covers grey hair and highlights all the tiny hairs in the brow with color, making brows look deeper, richer and thicker. When eyes are framed properly, they look less tired and more open which lifts the face for a more youthful appearance.
Even if the top three tips are not taken into consideration, suggest that guests use a brow powder or pencil to fill in any sparse areas. Using powder and pencil correctly can add width and minimize the arch for a more updated look.
